There was once an exceptional woman,

A doctor, soldier and captain .

Dedicated to service of the poor,

She was the lionhearted saviour.

A doctor by profession,

Resisting lifelong opression,

She rose to great heights,

A fighter for woman's rights.

Netaji's trusted pilot,

She refused to be silent.

A president nominee,

There was nothing not done by she.

Sent to Burma as a prisioner of war,

She is the forgotten warrior of yore.

So let us remember Lakshmi Sehgal,

The braveheart above all.
