When the subjects become the masters.
A wonderful philosophy,
And yet, the root of countless disasters.
Of the people, by the people, for the people,
But do the people really have a say?
Then why do the vilest of men,
Often get their way?
Of the people, by the people, for the people,
All are equal under the eyes of the law.
So why are the powerful bestowed forgiveness,
While the poor condemned for every flaw?
Of the people, by the people, for the people,
Liberty, equality and fraternity.
But as fear divides and rules,
Is this truly a democracy?
