Fearless Warriors

I smile at the patients wheeling in,

Ignoring the mask cutting my skin.

I brush aside my own headache,

To tend to the countless lives at stake.

My people’s applause resounds in my ears,

My hard work appeasing their fears.

Home Sweet Home is a distant memory,

Thoughts of my family comforting me.

During those long, painful nights,

I brace myself for a fight.

In this isolation ward,

I am a soldier without a sword.
