Habits

Old habits die hard,
Look at mankind's dubious history.
Centuries of racism and prejudice,
Centuries of ingrained misogyny.
Old habits die hard,
For once we are taught to loathe,
We bask in our granted privilege,
Leaving little room for growth.
Old habits die hard,
So how does one unlearn all the hate?
Embracing new perspectives,
Start anew with a clean slate?
Old habits die hard,
We are what we repeatedly do.
Conquer the ugly ones,
Before they conquer you.
