They say she is ruthless.
As hard as stone.
Her work is flawless,
But she is very much alone.
Her husband is no more,
They all knew.
They had never seen her mourn,
So their disdain grew.
What they did not know,
They were unaware.
Behind closed doors,
She really does care.
Every night she sits by the lake,
Recounting old memories.
While the town sleeps, she is awake,
Among the lush green trees.
Her lips tremble and quiver,
Tears fill her eyes.
The leaves around shiver,
As her wail echoes across the skies.
