The Renaissance

I toss my mask up into the sky,

Inhaling the cool, fresh air.

Bidding the quarantine a sweet goodbye,

The wind tangling my hair.

Just feel that summer breeze,

The way it's calling me.

Among the lush green trees,

I am finally free!

There are people to meet,

Places to visit,

Old habits to greet,

The sky's the limit!

Caution makes its debut,

Doubt and distrust will reign.

Countless rebuilding to do,

Our lives will never be the same.

This was its own kind of war,

With death, tears and pain.

Never forget the heroes, for,

Their sacrifice mustn't go in vain.
